Dear Kansas Library Community,
I am writing to you today to encourage you to attend the State Librarian’s luncheon. Last year I introduced myself to you. This year’s luncheon will have a slightly different format. We will feature Geek the Library
Geek the Library is a library service and funding awareness campaign which was successful at large and small libraries alike in Iowa and in Georgia. Some libraries in Kansas are going to participate in this program; Topeka Shawnee County is one of those libraries. Since it is very likely that your legislator(s) will see this campaign and may ask you about it, I am encouraging all to learn about this campaign so you can answer questions about it. Attending the State Librarian’s luncheon is a good (and hopefully enjoyable!) way to learn about GeektheLibrary.
Presentations of the KLA Presidential Awards and the Duane Johnson Library Leadership Award will also be part of this program.
Because we know that budgets are tight, the luncheon is heavily subsidized this year. Cost is $10 each. Good food, interesting program, great company: how can you go wrong?!
I hope to see you there.
Best wishes,
Jo Budler, State Librarian
